Insomnia Ruling My Life!! January 9, 2008

I usually find myself awake some time past 4 AM…

Why? There’s really no reason. I feel right going to bed when my body tells me to do so, like when exhaust finally takes over and I can no longer hold my eyelids open. I find I sleep so much deeper and better this way. I generally never go to bed when I should… This is bad. As often times, I find myself just waking up as the sun begins to set. Ugh. My best friend whom I live with (goes to NYU) would have already returned from class some hours ago and is on the umpteenth level of Final Fantasy X2… wtf.  PROBLEM: If I ever give myself a set time to go to bed, it usually takes me some time to stop fidgeting with my cell phone and finally close my fucking eyes. WAAAATFFFFAAAAAHK. That’s kinda sorta how I feel. I also enjoy catching up on sleep while riding the NYC subways. =)

Banned Commercials January 9, 2008

While once again laughing our asses off over the indian version of Michael Jackson’s hit song “Thriller” on Youtube (if you haven’t seen it, OMGsh, please do so immediately), my best friend and I fell upon something in the side bar which really knocked ‘brown man’s dead head bop’ out of the water…. The following commercials were banned in some countries around the globe for their often provocative and harsh approaches towards the distribution of their relatively simple products. This following clip was banned in France. Product: Condoms.

The following clip is an absolutely HYSTERICAL way to get the guys thinking…. hmmm…. I wonder who she’s fellating… Well, I don’t want to spoil all the fun. Can you imagine having your kids flip to the channel this commercial’s playing on? Recipe for DISASTER… I even had to ‘confirm my birthday’ on youtube to watch this one!

Product: Your noodle, or mine?

Now this one… I’ve seen this one actually, and I’m pretty certain that it wasn’t banned… Haven’t seen it in a while though, so I’m pretty sure it was pulled… but OH! how funny!!! Women battling it out in what seems to be some ancient dance ritual women performed to arouse men.. Hmm… well, it ends tragically. LOL.   Product: Sunsilk.

August 25th – September 1st, 2008 (Black Rock Desert of Nevada)

“…dedicated to self-expression, self-reliance, and art as the center of community”

“generate society that connects each individual to his or her creative powers, to participation in community, to the larger realm of civic life, and to the even greater world of nature that exists beyond society”

This year’s Art theme: American Dream

What an excellent event to attend before the school year begins. Like me, many seniors in high school right now are finalizing those college applications and filling out those tedious FAFSA’s. Oh yes, I feel your pain. Every evening I soak my fingertips in cool water to ease the swelling caused by excessive typing and writing. Geesh. Most of us, after recieving those beautiful acceptance letters often celebrate by joining our friends on road trips or extravagant voyages overseas to get that first suckle off the sweet teet of freedom. All of you out there who enjoy a good festival, dancing, music (no off-beat devil worshiping of any kind), but just a great time with mellowed out hippies and goddesses on drugs, or those of you who have always had a knack for setting things ablaze… by all means, go to Burning Man! No, totally kidding (sorta), like the site says, if you’ve ever felt like you didn’t fit in in society, you want something greater than conformity, that rule we all subconsciously live by, Burning Man is that one time once a year where we can all connect on a different level for 5 days in the middle of the desert. Having trouble finding out who you are before college starts? This festival may be just what you need. This year will be my first time, and I’ve heard nothing but good things. So I guess I’ll see you there man!!!

p.s. bring a tent
