“…dedicated to self-expression, self-reliance, and art as the center of community”
“generate society that connects each individual to his or her creative powers, to participation in community, to the larger realm of civic life, and to the even greater world of nature that exists beyond society”
This year’s Art theme: American Dream
What an excellent event to attend before the school year begins. Like me, many seniors in high school right now are finalizing those college applications and filling out those tedious FAFSA’s. Oh yes, I feel your pain. Every evening I soak my fingertips in cool water to ease the swelling caused by excessive typing and writing. Geesh. Most of us, after recieving those beautiful acceptance letters often celebrate by joining our friends on road trips or extravagant voyages overseas to get that first suckle off the sweet teet of freedom. All of you out there who enjoy a good festival, dancing, music (no off-beat devil worshiping of any kind), but just a great time with mellowed out hippies and goddesses on drugs, or those of you who have always had a knack for setting things ablaze… by all means, go to Burning Man! No, totally kidding (sorta), like the site says, if you’ve ever felt like you didn’t fit in in society, you want something greater than conformity, that rule we all subconsciously live by, Burning Man is that one time once a year where we can all connect on a different level for 5 days in the middle of the desert. Having trouble finding out who you are before college starts? This festival may be just what you need. This year will be my first time, and I’ve heard nothing but good things. So I guess I’ll see you there man!!!
p.s. bring a tent
